Polo Shirt Printing

Today, large numbers of businesses and employers are making the decision to allow members of staff to wear less formal clothing.  It sometimes seems to be a difficult balance to achieve, but there is an item of clothing that many are now turning to - the polo shirt.  Sometime also known as the golf shirt, these garments are extremely well used by schools up and down the country, due to the fact that polo shirt printing and embroidery makes it easy to display school logos or team names.  This popularity probably stems from the fact that polo shirts are extremely comfortable, and still look quite smart due to their collar and neat cut.

The polo shirt actually started off as a shirt worn for tennis, and this is the reason for its distinctive features.  Polo shirts were designed to make the game of tennis more comfortable and practical for players.  The design was soon used to make tops for other sports, notably polo, which explains their name.  As the popularity and wider use of the garment spread, some began to make changes to materials and cuts used slightly, further increasing the number of applications for the polo shirt.  Although the embroidery of emblems and logos onto polo shirts is nothing new, polo shirt printing is still comparatively hard to come by.  This is quite surprising as polo shirt printing allows for large designs to be transferred to the shirt quite easily and cheaply, and can make them stand out more than smaller, embroidered details.  Polo shirt printing does however differ to T shirt printing, due to the fact that polo shirts are made from knitted fibres rather than woven fibres.      

The applications of polo shirts are so numerous it is hardly surprising that they are so commonly used.  One of the major attractions of the polo shirt is its ability to blend in - a polo shirt can allow the wearer to fit in, whether on the sports field, at school or out at the shops with friends.  On the other hand, polo shirts can be designed for the opposite effect - to help the wearer stand out from the crowd.  This can be achieved through the use of colour and through bright or unusual polo shirt printing.  This wont, however, impact on the great comfort and practicality of the garment.
